Last night’s “mini derecho” (that’s what a spokesman for the National Weather Service called it) served to remind us why board fence and tree lines are a bad mix. The fence repair will take a couple of hours, with removing the four broken boards, pulling up the pieces of post, reinstalling everything, and then painting the new section of fence.

A wild cherry tree fell through our board fence. Four new boards, a new post and a few quarts of paint to fix it.
Further up the driveway, an ironwood branch came down on the high-tensile fence. I’ll have to replace a staple.
